    Flight booked

Well finally booked my trip home on the 27th November unfortunately minus my g,f. Can,t afford it just yet as I need to do repairs to my house. Decided to pay a little extra to fly via Singapore to experience the big beast, the A380. I could,nt face 15 hours plus with PAL that,s for sure.

A plane is a plane to me...

I guess working at Heathrow I have become accustomed to them. When I first started there about 10 years ago, I would stand there watching the planes land and take off in awe... Now I don't even bat an eyelid as they roar past me 100 yards away.

Keep your seatbelts on kids. I see so many people unclip once the light goes off, or not re-clip once they sit back down from a toilet/locker visit. The guy next to me on the way back from Barcelona last week unclipped as soon as the light went out. He wasn't going anywhere. Worried me to be honest, if the worst happens and he goes up, breaks his neck on the ceiling and then hits me on the way back down...

I've been in 'big' turbulence in a 747 over the Rockies (US) before. Nice rodeo ride, but some people were sh1tting themselves when the crew became airborne on the way to their seats (they were holding seats and their bodies 'floated' up in the air).

If you don't like turbulence then don't sit at the back of the plane, it pivots around its axis, the wing/engines.

Being in the Phils just for a few weeks makes me appreciate the small things I miss - like toast.

Even though I managed to get hold of some now and then, the vanilla flavoured butter kinda spoilt it. Yup, my usual food is the thing I miss most when I'm out of the country.

I brought a 4-slice toaster with me 4 years ago and its still going. I buy Lurpak spreadable butter here, very nice on toast

No such luck, but I,m just grateful for Lurpak because everything else butter-wise tastes horrid. When I,m having a ham sandwich instead of my beloved Branston Pickle I use HP brown sauce which is available here too lol

Well done Tiger, is this just a visit or more permanent? The weather here in UK is so mild at the moment, hopefully it will continue for your arrival

Yes Rosie, a visit but not sure for how long. My house and garden needs some TLC as I,ve had lodgers in there for 3 years so got lots to do when I get back. My g/f is not happy about it but she knows it needs to be done. Her fear is how long I,m going to be away for lol. But I,m sure to be going back as soon as everything is finished. She is starting to get a bit down and thinks I won,t come back lol.

I agree with you Brian, you will have plenty to do and I just hope for your sake your place is not too bad. Give your g/f a big wet kiss when you leave and get a Lebara sim to call her every day, she'll love you for that!

I believe the inside is ok as I've got a mate staying in my house. He keeps me up to date with everything. It,s just the outside is a bit of a mess.
