Securing your wifes future

Hi guys,
Just wondering what ways there are to secure my wife's future when I retire & beyond that when I pass on. My wife isn't working & will be mummy soon so she will not contribute to any pension & I believe that the husband's pension is not transferable any more. Any tips?

You're right, I read up on this some time ago. If I remember correctly, a small lump sum + 52 weeks bereavement allowance

I have a life insurance policy in place together with 2 private pensions that each have provision for payments of index-linked widow's pension.

If you go for life insurance I would recommend going for critical illness cover too as this will help if you have a stroke or some other debilitating illness that means you can no longer work before your pension kicks in

Well I am sure I have read it on the gov site that, if I am claiming a State Pension and I die, Ems being my wife - and over a certain age - will be able to draw from the pension. It will not be the full amount and will depend on her age. I will try to find it again. I am sure I was not dreaming this
