Question UK benefits a magnet to migrants, says Calais mayor

Illegal migrants see the UK as a "soft touch" and its benefits system acts as a "magnet" to them, the mayor of the French city of Calais has told MPs.

We should get out of this ridiculous EU as soon as possible. It has grown into a monster...as many of us predicted it would. All the time undermining our country's culture, heritage and sovereignty.

According to EU law, the French are supposed to return all illegal immigrants to the first country they landed in. So, all should be picked up and returned to the Italian border.

Why does France not get fined for continuously breaking the rules? Why are we giving Calais £Millions, do the French give the Italians the same?

Interesting in 2014 we have a French mayor coming to Britain's parliament to say that everyone over there laughs at us.
When you're handing out benefits for 6 months at a time to immigrants, it is going to guarantee that you will always have a steady flow of grateful recipients.

When you're *handing out benefits for 6 months at a time to immigrants, it is going to guarantee that you will always have a steady flow of grateful recipients.
AND, correspondingly ... it stands to reason we can guarantee being seen as a laughing stock for as long as we persist in *doing so!
