Ha...could have been worse I suppose.

I don't agree with the 'extreme' weather remark. Quite the opposite is true really. Variable, maybe.

Forget Euros too. One thing, thank god, we didn't adopt.

Yup, the weather description is way off the mark. The author must live elsewhere.

The strong economy can also be credited to the effective governance which provides utmost care and importance to all citizens.

I thought the weather comment correct, have experienced days like that regularly when living in Thurgoland!

But those days are about as common as the days where the weather is as hot as the Philippines. There have been quite a few years when I haven't seen snow at all.

    1. Weather changes.
Because of the location of the United Kingdom on the earth, Filipinos might have some days when they will experience sudden changes in weather.
I think that's a fair statement. Very often our weather is unpredictable and changeable even within the same day.
My wife would often leave the house in warm sun only to find later it got chilly and or wet.

I've gone from boiling hot to fairly cold on Puka Beach in Boracay. That did surprise me.

Got soaking wet due to a storm. In hindsight should have stayed in the sea.

I'd call volcanic eruptions and earthquakes reasonably extreme, both of which I've experienced in the Phils. So what I was meaning, was that by comparison with the sort of natural disasters that Filipinos are used to experiencing, things are pretty quiet up this way.

The " health and education " link is to an “ ageUK “ site (http://www.ageuk.org.uk/money-matter...alth-benefits/
    ) !

This is a better link, which also provides other helpful links including the devolved NHS in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland :-

    http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/.../overview.aspx

For education ( limited information in link provided ) these could be helpful :-

    http://www.educationuk.org/global/

    https://www.gov.uk/government/organi...-for-education

Best of all ? This Forum !

When I'm in the Philippines most folks I meet aren't aware of UK, Great Britain or England.

The usual comment being "which part of America is England?"
Better to say I'm from London

    No offence intended

    Red face

Not bragging here ... but I remember on one occasion during my last visit to the Phils in 2008/09 overhearing myself being described as "that handsome American" when, of course ... ... I'm neither!

    Can't lie Arthur...I am handsome.
