Thumbs up Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red Exhibition at Tower of London

Don't miss the major art installation Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red at the Tower of London, marking one hundred years since the first full day of Britain's involvement in the First World War. Created by ceramic artist Paul Cummins, 888,246 ceramic poppies will progressively fill the Tower's famous moat. Each poppy represents a British military fatality during the war.

Time is running out so if you can't visit, have a look on-line below. I visited the exhibition in August and it was fabulous then but it is totally awesome now with thousands of volunteers still giving their time to help set it up. I've also purchased one of the ceramic poppies which will be cleaned up and despatched when the exhibition is taken down after 11 November. I believe they have now all been sold and the proceeds will be shared amongst 6 service charities.

Names of those that lost their lives in Word War One have also been read out every night at the Tower of London by a Yeoman, watched by hundreds of people each time.

What a truly wonderful and stunning commemoration to all those who lost their lives in World War 1 !!

Looks like the public are being urged not to visit this weekend because of half term but to go next weekend as there are so many visitors ........ amazing photos attached in the recent newspaper article

Wow, just look at those queues

We've been 3 times and enjoyed each one to the full.
I'd recommend a visit and tour to anyone. It's just fabulous.

Yes Steve, some great pictures to be had .....depending on your timing

I walk around the area a lot and last week got caught up in huge crowds on the Southbank by Tower Bridge. We had to queue for 10 minutes to get up the steps onto the bridge. When we did make it there was a lot of jostling going on and a fight broke out between a tourist and some of the East European bandits that operate scams on the bridge.

Although I really appreciate the poppies and the efforts made, I will be glad when they are removed and the area returns to the normal weekend throng
