    Help! which visa works best?

Hi..been posting on different threads and I don't know if I've done right coz haven't seen any replies. Anyway, here's my problem:

My partner and I have been in a 3-year relationship and get to see each other once a year when she comes home for vacation. We then decided she gets divorced and I, annulled. Her final decree had been filed so just waiting for a couple of days for the finality. Mine has been granted but the documentations are taking forever.

She is thinking of a proposed civil partner visa or we could get married here at the British Embassy in the Phils. But it would be too expensive because she has to fly here for the ceremony and then we apply for a spouse visa. So I was wondering if you guys could help. Many thanks.

Hi Majo welcome aboard Filipino UK

Need some clarification before we can best help.

What is the nationality of your partner?

You mention civil partnership ceremony at the Embassy, does this mean you are both same gender ?

OK Majo, you'll both need to decide if you'll get married here in UK or at the British Embassy in Manila. It's a personal choice really as the application forms and immigration rules are basically the same.
Entering the UK as a Proposed Civil Partner (Fiancée) does involve some additional evidence around having a genuine and subsisting relationship and the showing good intention to actually marry and live together permanently.
There's also the issue of not being able to undertake employment until after the marriage/Civil Partnership and the Granting of the FLR(M)
The initial entry visa is only valid for 6 months max.
The FLR(M) visa being an additional expense.

Entering the UK as a Civil Partner / Spouse means being issued with a full 33 months visa and being eligible for employment right away.

Anyway, please take some to review the forms and documentation needed by taking look at the UKVI webpage - Apply to join family living permanently in the UK

I also highly recommend reviewing the application form details here - Application for UK visa for family settlement: form VAF4A then you'll be better placed to ask any specific questions about your own personal circumstances.

Your partner is your sponsor and will be a key part of your application.
This is especially important in connection with the Financial Requirement where a minimum annual gross income of £18600 is mandatory (unless exemptions apply)

In making your review of the above links please do be sure to follow all the needed UKVI links appropriate to your case.

Happy reading Majo and don't be shy to ask any questions you need
