Thread: Marriage in the Philippines means you take your maiden name as middle name?

    So are you saying that you wife wanted to renew her passport in her married name (as per marriage certificate) and the Philippines Embassy refused ??
    Something not correct there unless I missed or misunderstood something.
    Most wives renew their passport to their married name at some point. Always following the Embassy Guidelines.

    They insisted that her married middle name should be her maiden surname - which is not the middle name we have used since she has been here.

    Yes, sounds odd! My wife renewed her passport at the Philippine Embassy in London. Her married name was accepted and is now on the new passport. So I would certainly question what their problem is...
