The basic issue is around the difference in frequency of the AC current
Plenty of items work on both 60Hz and 50Hz
Some UK items will only work correctly at 50Hz
Some will operate but will burn out quicker than usual, while others may be OK depending on what chips are installed.

UK electrical items with a motor will run faster and hotter.
Also, those fitted with any sort of timing will run significantly faster, so not much use really.
Maritess Iphone 5s, when we charged it in Philippines the charger go so hot you would burn your hand when you touched it, also my electric razer got extremely hot also. My Nokia phone that I bought in Philippines works perfectly in Uk and I've had it many years now. Btw the I phone charger broke and we got a new phone and charger from our local Apple store, we never mentioned that we used it in Philippines!
