Will a bike fit in? And no, the wheels will not be attached!

My Mrs was looking the other day at the possibilty of buying a couple of flat packed bikes and shipping them with Forex - gave them the carton size and it was working out volume wise about £75 a throw (almost the same cube rate as their std BB boxes) - for cheap or used bikes it was unecomomical
If it's a standard non folding fixed frame adult bike it may do but I very much doubt it. Even if the front wheel, back wheel, handle bar and front fork assembly together with the saddle assy are all fully detached It would still be a pretty tight squeeze. Depends on the frame design and size.
Best bet IMO would be to get hold of a bike box from somewhere like Halfords and ship it in that. The volume of that would be pretty small so the cost would be reasonable.
Food for thought.
Bikes are not too expensive here like- for-like compared to UK
Based on the £75 Dedworth mentioned it likely wouldn't be economical unless the bike begins to be a little bit specialised.
A decent first-step mountain bike here is going to set you back P10k - P15k
Proper stuff is same price as UK ........expensive
We use Belwood 01780756476 based near Peterborough and Leeds but do collections all over from Scotland to Cornwall. All companies wait until the 40' container is full before sending. Nothing moves in the container having seen them packed. I would check but as far as I am concerned the weight of your box does not matter. A lot of the boxes I have seen are stuffed until they can hardly be closed and weigh a ton. Belwood will supply boxes which they charge for, but as long as you ship by them will deduct from the final bill I think. Again check with Belinda.
