If I had some nice light fittings and wanted to take them to the Philippines would they work? These are new - never been used - and they are all wired to work here. But will they work over there?

Should be no problem Steve. I've done the same and they work perfectly (so far!)
My very expensive AV receiver and amp suddenly stopped worked. Had to buy another amp for the karaoke system.
A like for like replacement Pioneer AV receiver/Amp will cost P18k
Probably will never use most of the facilities.
Need to try and find a repairer.
Same thing with a microwave. Just doesn't want to work nicely. I didn't think it wouldbut just curious to try. Be warned.

We shipped plenty of electrical items and the majority work fine.
We always knew some would be borderline, but that was a risk we took.
The basic issue is around the difference in frequency of the AC current
Plenty of items work on both 60Hz and 50Hz
Some UK items will only work correctly at 50Hz
Some will operate but will burn out quicker than usual, while others may be OK depending on what chips are installed.
UK electrical items with a motor will run faster and hotter.
Also, those fitted with any sort of timing will run significantly faster, so not much use really.
Maritess Iphone 5s, when we charged it in Philippines the charger go so hot you would burn your hand when you touched it, also my electric razer got extremely hot also. My Nokia phone that I bought in Philippines works perfectly in Uk and I've had it many years now. Btw the I phone charger broke and we got a new phone and charger from our local Apple store, we never mentioned that we used it in Philippines!
No problem with light fittings, but if fitted with a dimmer switch then
Remember though, that here in Phils, the bulbs are screw in type - not bayonet push and turn - but maybe you can replace the socket part for the screw in type.
We use push and turn bulbs in our shop and house spotlights. They are available at Ace hardware and Wilcon depots.

Indeed! Makes B&Q here look like a corner shop.It will be on my list to visit weekly and just look around.
We use the new LED bulbs here these days... 7 watts is about the same as a 15 watt energy saver bulb. I like the light they emit too.. Clean and white..
No idea if they are cheaper here or not, but I doubt if it's worth shipping them over..Get them all here if I were you.
Both normal low energy bulbs and LED bulbs seem to be significantly cheaper here in general
