I hope I can see it. If I do, there are going to be lots of pictures
You might be able to see the Northern Lights tonight Les, if it's clear sky near you
I have got my camera ready. A good filter is ready too, just want no cloud and a beautiful sun.
Thanks Les !
Let’s hope it’s clear on Friday ( 20 March ) . There is a good account of solar eclipses in this link to the Royal Astronomical Society :-
https://www.ras.org.uk/publications/...eclipse-safely.
It’s worth repeating what every member should know :-
Nobody should look directly at the sun or at a solar eclipse, either with the " naked " eyes, even if dark filters such as sunglasses are used, nor through optical equipment like cameras, binoculars and telescopes. There is NO safe system to directly view an eclipse . Of course children should not be allowed to look at the sun directly at any time. Viewing the sun in such ways may lead to retinal burns with significant and maybe permanent loss of sight. The loss of vision is not always immediate and may take hours or days to develop. There is no proven or effective treatment for " solar retinopathy " and / or " solar maculopathy ".
UVA and UVB in sunlight can harm your eyes and increase the risk of cataracts and AMD ( age-related macular degeneration ).

The radio has been mentioning it all morning, is it something to do with Bonnie Tyler?
Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.
The DJ and his mate on the radio had that playing and were singing solar eclipse of the heart over it.
I wish this moon would hurry up. Got things to do. Actually it's getting a bit dim all of a sudden.
Aberdeen is meant to be one of the best view points for it but only if the bloody clouds would move!
It reaches it's peak at 9:31 here in Birmingham.
I blinked..................and missed it Was that IT? What a damp squib

Just went dull like in a thunderstorm, some streetlights came on
What a blinkin letdown.
Some of my neighbours do a better job of blocking the sun out.
... missed it, Les!
9.30 am today had a perfect view!
One school in Southall of all places was on the news today for refusing to allow any children outside to watch the eclipse on cultural and religious grounds. I bet that head teacher is feeling like a right plum after the media got hold of the story

Talk about an anti-climax.
