I've had the same problems with my ipad too. Ever since I updated the software. Big mistake that was. No improvements with anything, but plenty of performance issues expecially linking images etc.

Sorry to say I haven't found any solution as yet. Worst still, it's not possible to go back to a previous verion of the OS
