I think yours might be locked Rayna as I believe all phones are locked to whatever network you bought them from except o2. On the actual Android system my understanding is there are 3 types ;

Pure or stock - on Nexus, Motorola & Lenovo phones
Phone Manufacturers - ie I bought an unlocked HTC from Amazon and the Android was preloaded with unremovable HTC apps
Network - phones bought from a network like yours which will have both manufacturers apps and network apps - both unremovable

My Virgin mobile Nokia Windows phone wasn't locked.

Then again...small consolation for me not having chosen the Android Samsung instead.
