Illegal migrant workers will have wages seized, vows David Cameron

Wages seized by police and face deportation without appeal if they are in the UK illegally

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...d-Cameron.html

I hope this heralds a relentless, long overdue crackdown on these grubs

Whats the point in seizing their wages and its only going to be peanuts anyway

Another Tory nonsense gimmick just to attract a few headlines just remove them from the country

The ever useless Theresa May undermining our great Police Force yesterday

Good idea and I'm sure that it's a start and good on Theresa May for at least attempting to crack down on stuff like this.

    Nonsense gimmick

It's another deterant, I think you'll also find that it's in addition to deportation and not instead of

You really can't please some people, if nothing had been done they'd be complaining, if something's done then it's not enough or a gimmick, and if you go to the other extreme and shoot them then it's ridiculous and against their human rights

A Tory smokescreen to try and get the jump on the news that 318,000 more people came into the Uk last year

Camerons promised us to get it down into the tens of thousands

Immigration is out of control and all Cameron can do is come up with ridiculous ideas like steal someones wages

I put it to you Mr Tory that the threat of siezing of wages will not make a blind bit of difference to any illegal immigrant working in the Uk and thats why i class it has just a gimmick

So someone who works illegally and earns money from that illegal job then has their earnings confiscated is now classed as theft

Maybe a flop house of crammed with illegals next door to London Manila might prompt him to re-evaluate his views

My street is full of houses full up with poles and they are allowed to be here

Whether legal or illegal there are still way too many in the UK

Bang on Simon. The more things we do like this the better. Labour certainly would not have tackled stuff like this. They would have made things worse.

Labour caused this problem in the first instance.

Had they got in the other week the bum boats of economic migrants from Africa would be getting a Royal Navy escort straight to Plymouth.

It's a move in the right direction.

    'Every little helps'.

Let's hope companies are actually properly fined/owners jailed too, instead of receiving the slap on the wrist they've become accustomed to.

The country and its citizens have had the piss taken for far too long.

400,000-900,000 Illegals in the country at the last count. No staff to chase them down. Deportation is less than 0.001% of those numbers.

We have enough legislation to get rid of illegals, but we do not employ enough people to do the job. It is that simple.

Obviously the Govt don't feel it is that simple - they are going to create a new offence of "illegal working" and extend the “deport first, appeal later” scheme to all immigrants thought to be in the UK illegally. Under coalition the Cons were stymied by the limp wristed Liberals now the gloves can come off

As I say, we already have more than enough laws to deal with illegals. We can fine the employer, and deport the illegal. You don't need more laws, we just need to enact the ones that we have. Find them, fine them, deport them. So easy..... if they had enough staff. Manpower is the answer, not more meaningless laws.

It doesn't take many staff to send a company employing illegals a bill for their fine...and no extra cost for it being a £10,000 fine instead of a £1,000 wrist-slap.

Where there is a will, there is often a cheap and efficient way.

Hard times beget hard measures, think Thailand recently with the burmese muslims, they intercepted the boat and towed it to the edge of thai boundaries,i bet boats of people give thailand a wide berth,we need street spot checks in places of high ehnic density example hounslow, southall, leicester, catch someone who cant explain there passport missing or their presence in the UK detain them,DO NOT bail them to return at a later date...........they wont

Deportation should be exempt from appeal

Plenty of beds in sheds throughout Slough & Hounslow - they could just hop from what's left of one back garden to the next

The problem with deportation is that it takes so long, costs a lot of money, and a number of them just come straight back to the UK.

I would imagine the 'appeal later' will be against the Human Right's law.

Good to see the government controlling the borders Both Tories and Labour have proved they have little power over the EU. With the economy picking up, that means MORE migrants. Hence the rise this year, and that trend will continue.
