I had to laugh at the smoking 'facilities' at Manchester Airport.
After following the directions for half a mile and climbing a few flights of steps...assuming as a smoker, you haven't already expired on the way...you open the door and end up in what is basically an unheated bus shelter attached to the outside of the terminal...which can mean in winter....horizontal rain or snow to accompany all the coughing and wheezing.
Glad I'm an ex-smoker now.
You can't smoke in Manchester Airport, even though it is full of burnt kerosene fumes

Talking about facilities ... Singapore's Changi Airport - as well as being fully *carpeted ... ... *at least in all of the parts I have traversed - has special Smoking Rooms, equipped with comfortable seating, pedestal-mounted ash trays, &c.
Yes, it could teach that HUGE cattle market at Heathrow - and ALL of the British so-called Airports I've passed through in my time - a lesson in terms of its general welcoming atmosphere
They should allow smoking on planes. I have no problem with people sitting on the wing having a puff

It's improved over the past 5 years or so.
My first arrival was marred by a policeman who asked for "a token of appreciation" from me after he helped my g/f and me to meet up at the arrivals terminal! I didn't know where to go and I couldn't describe where I was for her to get to me so I asked for his help. I was shocked when he made his proposition but what was I going to do? He's a policeman, carrying a gun, I'm a foreigner first time in the country! Welcome to the Philippines! :-( TG for Du30!!
