Cockroaches
Cheer up Les. Don't they bring you good business taking them to the Jobcentre on signing day ?![]()
Having been in that situation myself, and lived in such environments, I would call some of them lazy, but most are just stuck in a rut and trapped because of circumstances. From personal experience most do not want to be in that situation, and sometimes they eventually get a break.
Most people on here comment based on media reports, and never having 'been there'. I have, and trust me, I would prefer to have some of those people looking after my back in a war than most of the folk with money.
If you think they get too much money, blame Cameron, he runs the benefit system at the moment, not the people who are entitled to legally claim.

Some may be looking for work. Most not they have grown up on benefits culture and they not going to change. It's inbred. They can all afford beer, fags, drugs etc tho. I would give them money for food but impiment a food credit card and so it could be monitored what they spend. So every month if it shows they wasted a certain amount on beer and cigs I would deduct that amount off their next allowence.
I saw a localish bloke the other night walking along fit as a fiddle with 2 of his brood of 7 who are collectively housed in two Housing Association properties. He's not worked for at least 16 years no doubt due to some mystery medical condition which doesn't stop him from smoking or his regular visits to the bookies. Could be worse we don't fund a car or trophy dog.
As Les knows...I used to work at the Harrogate 'dole' office years ago.
Probably still the same families signing on. lol![]()
Short term unemployed get more help and attention to try get them back to work, before they fall in the long term category, in this one they lose hope, give up, or decide they cant get work that makes them any better off financially, by the time they turn long term, they have learnt all about the system and how to use it to their advantage, the powers that be give up on them too.
Short term unemployed dont know the ropes, and dont get offered the information that the long term have learnt, therefore they miss out on much needed help.
When I got ill, on one hand they said I'm fit enough to sign on and end disability, the other hand told me I'm not fit to work, so you dont need to look for work, or come in to sign on, and so you will receive unemployment benefit, instead of disability. Genuine willing to work unemployed persons, do not get the real help they need
Thought the money was a safety net. Not a way of life on booze fags and drugs. No saying if you paid into the system you can't have money of course you should but these lazy ..... totally abuse it and their prority is not food and welfare for their kids. Just selfish gits who one again think the public should fund their idle lifestyle. Take away their ability to smoke and drink and they might be sober enough to look for a job!
I called them scum referring to the people on that program not Ded.![]()
Keith, Dedworth called them COCKROACHES!!! It's probably because Les already used SCUM!!!![]()

Like Keith, I've been in that situation myself and I agree with what he said. I don't have any sympathy with those who want a life that forever consists of becoming a couch potato, though.
I think a lot of them would work if they were given the incentive to, but in the current climate they have come to the conclusion that they would be better off claiming benefits.
Actually, the worst people I've met in my life are the ones IN work.![]()
More emphasis should be put on weeding out the greedy thieving law breaking self-important celebrities who think they're exempt from paying tax.![]()
Bet they have paid tax though which has enabled the lazy ..... to just take take take. My original thread has mutated once again. I'll state this one last time. I'm not against anyone who claims benefits as it can happen to any of us. But there is a world of difference between genuine fallen on hard times people to those who think .... society I ain't gonna work. They expect the rest of us to stand by and pay for their lifestyle. They complain all the time they haven't enough money yet all the treats I mentioned they get. I pick up young girls who's main aim is to have a kid to get housed and looked after. They have never worked and now coz they have a kid don't need to. One of the women on that program was moaning it was costing her £20 a week to buy dead mice to feed the snake her son has! Nice to know we're buying her dead rodents. A few weeks ago a friend of mine became homeless. I put her up for 3 days which turned into 3 weeks! To her credit tho she was on my Internet everyday job searching. I was about £200 out of pocket when she left so to all you lot who think I'm a bit mean think again. All I believe in is get on with your life. Don't make excuses and try to find work instead of getting pissed on beer and getting stupid tattoos all over your body. Make it happen.
Points taken, Les... but I'm not sure if you're fully seeing Jamie's point. Which is ... that jobs (of ANY kind) aren't all that easy to come by nowadays. And,
... at least part of the blame lies with the Government itself; firstly, with its ridiculous proposals to offer free childcare to married women to enable them to continue working when, in fact, it should be trying to encourage these ladies to stay at home caring for their young families.
And secondly, with Jamie that, instead of just cracking down solely on Benefit claimants, far more strenuous effort ought to be put into properly investigating the dubious financial affairs of those wealthy entrepreneurs and/or jumped-up celebrities whose consistent tax evasion is, arguably, responsible for a much GREATER drain on the Economy.
As this thread is about benefit cheats I will stick to that. I agree with the first 2 posters. I've been there and done it but I can proudly say I got off my .... and fixed it. In the 80's I was made redundant, was off work for nearly 18 months, managed no problem with the benefits I got but hated it. I found a job 2 hours travel away for half the amount I was getting on benefits. Most people would say that was stupid especially having a missus and 2 kids but it was the best thing I ever done.
so going from no work, no travel and being at home with no problems, I took 50% less money, traveled 4 hours there and back and worked 8 hours every day, it was tough but I was proud to do it! The kids also learned a good lesson about earning your keep.
Whilst I "stick firmly to my guns" about what I've said in #24 ...with Les & Michael's
s regarding your capacity for sheer tenacity ...
... which 'paid~off' (s'cuse pun) - well done in that respect!![]()
