Will this affect our wives whatever they they do if they don't have FLR. We are still applying for the spouse visa. Does this mean in six years she will have to leave if she isn't earning enough. I'm not sure how to take this this.

A Home Office spokesman said: “There are exemptions to the £35,000 threshold for occupations where the UK has a shortage. But the independent .Migration Advisory Committee .recommended against adding nurses to the list after taking evidence from groups including the Royal College of Nursing. Employers have had since 2011 to prepare for this.”
My wife isn't a nurse or a true skilled worker Simon.
I'm scared. Do I need to think about giving up. She won't earn that in six years.

I suspect that due to the shortage of British nurses and the unsuitabilty of Euro Trash they'll be a rethink and the occupation will be put on the exemption list. Anyway they can apply for ILR after 5 years. We need a points based Aussie type system for all immigrants, it still amazes me that most petrol station cashiers are Indian - I thought the sham colleges were being hammered

I've just been reading up a bit more on this - looks like it affects those who've come in on Tier 2 Visas after 6/4/2011. At their recent jamboree the RCN voted 99% in favour of this resolution :-
That this meeting of RCN Congress calls on the UK Government to withdraw plans for the forced removal of non-EU nurses if their salary after five years is less than £35,000.
I'd imagine the Govt are rethinking things now
