Indeed, there's an old saying, understood to've been attributed to the Scots Bard, Robert Burns:

OK ... ... there's a limit - a time and place. But, IMO, the only thing offensive about a fart, is the odour it tends to create. And, Steve ... your thread's just a bit of harmless, light hearted fun.
