HP Printer incompatible ink cartridge. This workaround works with many printers. Click print, incompatible ink cartridge appears, ignore it, do not cancel. Go to printer, hold down power button and cancel button for a few moments then release both. A test page will be printed followed by your document.

Now my UK printer works with Filipino cartridges.

Thanks for the tips Jonnijon, I'll try the HP printer one later.
My wife's uncle gave us a new Canon printer so at least I could print.
Sadly it's not an all-in-one type and doesn't scan or photocopy like my HP does
