When a 22 yo able bodied scumbag violently attacks a 54 yo grandmother, chances are she's going to be badly hurt if not dead.
's where - when the case eventually comes to trial - the assailant's defence counsel could claim that his/her client 'lashed out' at the guard ... without actually intending kill the victim who, sadly, later died from the injuries she sustained in the attack.
However, even if this were so, it does NOT, in ANY way, absolve the young toerag of his *culpability (or blame) for such an extremely cowardly assault in the first instance.... hence my use of the *term, borrowed from Scots Law.
Hopefully, they'll "throw the book" at him.
They bang on about Health & Safety in this country but clearly this is one of those genuine examples of an employee being in an unsafe environment.

Evidently, successive governments can choose to apply Health and Safety Regulations when it suits them ... and/or conveniently IGNORE those same Rules altogether - with disastrous consequences - as in this tragic example. Therefore, IMO, governments themselves ought to bear some responsibility for such incidents.
