No need to boast about the huge selection of fruits available here in Davao, or indeed all over Mindanao, as I guess everyone here knows already.
Just now seems to be peak season with virtually everything in abundance at silly low prices. Durian are especially plentiful and the premium varieties still only at P40 per kilo.
The strange thing is that I always disliked Durian smell and taste.
Well I can't understand it but recently it's become one of my favourite fruits
I must be on the cusp of being Pinoy.
In our fruitbowl tonight we had:-
Banana, of which I eat 6 - 9 everyday
Mangosteen. Got to be my current favourite.
Rambutan. Beautiful fruit
Marang also one of my favourites for ages now
Durian. The king of fruits and one that has got me hooked
Lanka/Jackfruit
Newly into season we bought today Lanzones.
All these fruits, available fresh as can be and cheap as chips.
What joy.
We still can get nice yellow mangoes but they've passed their perfect honey sweet best.
Still more fruits yet to try that I've heard of.
My wife can't believe I enjoy so much Durian. Need to take a bit of care on the quantity as they're high in calories.
Everyone tells me you can't eat Durian and drink beer as you'll be very very ill and might die.
Well just to say I've been doing that for weeks and I'm still here

I'm saying do it, just that I have.
