Pinay girls on UK Xfactor - another chance for the Daily Mail to attack the Philippines

    Oh here we go again

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...won-THREE.html

Was watching the X Factor last night (It's a guilty pleasure, I know it's rubbish but wife also likes it) and there was an act of four Filipinas who were frankly the highlight of the night.

Well, they had their story, of how they flew from Manila with their mother because they wanted to meet Simon Cowell, along with "how convenient" footage the show could use of the sisters in the aeroplane on their way here.

They were certainly a hit with various Pinoy friends who have posted about it on Facebook - not really surprisingly.

Of course though, the Daily Mail has been able to seize on this. Anyone reading this regularly will notice the Philippines is one place which seems to attract their particular bile, if it wasn't that murdering hospital worker - and they after tried with some success to paint ALL Filipinos as suspect scum - then it's other stories. Got to wonder if one of their reporters was turned down by a ladyboy in a Subic bar (If that sounds offensive to their reporters, it was meant to be)

Now come on, anybody with any sense would have immediately been suspicious these girls were spontaneous, especially people on forums such as this. Questions such as "how did Pinays afford to take a flight to London just for a talent contest, how did they secure their tourist visa for this etc", and it turns out they have appeared on other shows and are quite popular on youtube. In other words, X Factor is just staged showmanship, surely nobody thinks it's all spontaneous.

That's all it is though, they aren't professionals, they're perhaps semi who wanted to appear on the UK show. The Mail though has unsurprisingly tried to paint them as extreme chancers out to con the British.

Then there's the usual type of Mail comments. Did they used to be men? Why aren't they wearing flipflips and baseball hats? Some quite offensive stuff. Yes, they have committed the Daily Mail reader crime of not being British, and even worse, not being white.

    Absolute rag

The people who comment about visa stuff are usually the ones who don't even know their own country's immigration rules.

I've used to watch/see these sisters in talent competitions on TV in the Philippines in the past. They're actually good, it's just that they probably weren't really given the big break they want. Good for them for showing their talent here in the UK.

    Totally agree Rayna.

That made my night, seeing those girls on the Xfactor.

Whatever route got them there...doesn't matter.

The show is about TALENT not yet seen on British TV...international permitted now too, and as has always been the case...professional or amateur.

Simon didn't get rich by being a fool.

It's just a page filler during a no news period. The Daily Mail and other quality newspapers should be slagging off the broadcasters for the poor quality, dumbed down TV progammes like this tripe that they ram down the masses throats.

They're quite good but soon they'll never be heard of again in the UK like Madonna Decena

Yep pile of rubbish. The show is just a cash cow. A friend of mine who can sing and is pretty had an audition and all they wanted to know was what was her story! She said she did not have one so they did not use her. Remember bloody jedward absolutely terrible but used to create controversy which creates publicity which in turn creates cash for cowl. I will never ever watch such tripe again. Give me something with Prof Brian Cox in any day.

Oh we all know it's just a "throwaway" entertainment show. Pity really as surely there's a place for talent shows to "discover" the talents of tomorrow. We (probably) can all remember Opportunity Knocks, New Faces etc.

Or perhaps times have just moved on and the days when some fat northern guy can stand at a mic making jokes about Irishmen, Jews, Mothers-in-laws have just gone

I wonder what sort of visa they got?

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

Boy George - why the blazes, just why?

He had a couple of lucky hits in the 80's, which were pretty much down to him looking "different" and tapping into the mood of the time. Then - obscurity.

Now some may not know, it doesn't appear to be well known but he then got heavily into the 90's dance/trance scene, which was about as contrived and cool as a geography teacher dad-dancing at a 6th form disco.

But really just what can he inspire? The Voice in the UK was a joke anyway and you really got the feeling that unlike even X Factor that the judges really couldn't give a toss about the acts with the exception of Ricky Wilson who gave the impression he did.

    Nah it's all just staged.

ps what does Cheryl and Simon have in common.....................neither can sing
