    Driving Standards

    Am i getting old or what ?, here is the scenario;

    Im approaching a single lane Bridge over a Canal, controlled by permanent Traffic lights, as i approach i prepare to stop, then stop as they change to Red, I am at a standstill, suddenly a so called driver from directly behind me overtakes me and goes right over on a Red light The driver at the opposite end of the bridge is forced to wait, then as he comes over he Flashes his lights and waves his thanks.

    Is it just me ? or am i right in thinking the Driving Standards these days are worse than they have ever been ?.

    They are terrible-only today I was in the right hand side of 2 lanes which is to go ahead or turn right.Left hand lane for turning left.Guy in left hand lane went straight ahead causing me to brake
    I blasted horn and he gave me v sign and then decided to drive at 10 miles an hour-as we approached next roundabout he waited for me.normally I would have let him have it but i went the other way to annoy him and did not even look towards him.i enjoyed that as it no doubt wound him up more
    All he had to do was put his hand up to accept mistake but no you get v sign or worse these days

    There is also the huge influx of former Warsaw Pact drivers to consider many of whom will have forged licences, no insurance etc

    When you have driven in Manila, every driver in the UK is just fine.

    The trouble is here , everyone thinks they have the right to drive where they want at what speed they want and what lane when the want,
    Common sense goes out of the window once behind the wheel,
    I am not saying i am the greatest driver out there but there are lots of stupid people around

    It's about time we went like the US. Renew the license every few years, and have an eye test at the same time. Fail, and no licence. Then again, who needs a license these days? The penalty is nothing. Points on the license you don't have.

    You could be describing Philippines Steve

    Just my observation but out of all the countries I've driven in (including India) here in the Paradise Islands I find drivers with the least skill level, the least awareness, the least discipline and the least manners/consideration I've ever encountered.

    Well, except for Paris.
    Oh and also Rome.
