Scores Killed in Mecca as Crane Crashes into Grand Mosque

A large construction crane toppled over and crashed into the Grand Mosque in the holy city of Mecca on Friday, killing at least 87 people and raising fears about the safety of the site before the yearly hajj pilgrimage that is expected to bring in millions of visitors to Saudi Arabia this month.

Bit like people saying 'by grace of God I survived that Typhoon'. Yes dear, lucky you. The 1,000 poor, coastal shanty town dwelling folk who died were on hit list and those with knowledge/money to get out of town were not on his list... uh huh.

107 Dead. More than likely it's caused by an engineering failure, as the crane should easily of handled those winds of 80kph, as the other cranes proved. The main base of the crane didn't topple, it seems to have failed at the bottom joint.
