Yes, I have been reminding my wife about this today (in case she had any travel plans). I hope it turns out to be less of a problem than anticipated.

Luckily it's only rain that's being dumped and only in Luzon apparently.

Typhoon Lando to weaken but linger in Luzon until Wednesday

    http://images.gmanews.tv/webpics/201...12_14_43_0.jpg

After coming down hard and fast in Casiguran, Aurora, early Sunday, Typhoon Lando (international name Koppu) is weakening but will still bring rain to the country for most of next week.

"Hihina si Lando dahil sa pagtama nito sa kalupaan, lalo na dahil sa pagtama nito sa mga bundok ng Cordillera, pero mabagal din ang paglabas nito sa bansa," explained GMA resident meteorologist Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz.

As of 6 a.m., Lando was in the area of Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija, with sustained winds of 150 kph and gusts of up to 185 kph.

    More here

We have many friends and family in Nueva Ecija and thankfully they're safe.

I hope our own Steve.r and his family are safe and secure too

Yes...imagine us getting 3 feet of rain here in the UK. That's more than Eastern England receives in a whole year.

    Getting quite worried now.

Mercedes and our baby boy are in Manila at present, the rest of the family up in Pangasinan (but fortunately at the top of a hill).

The state weather bureau on Sunday evening, October 18, said Typhoon Lando continues to move slowly toward the Ilocos and Cordillera regions.

In its 11 pm ( local time ) bulletin the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised storm warning signals in the following areas:-

    SIGNAL NO. 3 – Winds of 121-170 km/h
    Benguet
    Ilocos Sur
    La Union
    Ilocos Norte
    Abra

    SIGNAL NO. 2 – Winds of 61-120 km/h
    Pangasinan
    Zambales
    Nueva Vizcaya
    Ifugao
    Mountain Province
    Kalinga
    Apayao
    Tarlac

    SIGNAL NO. 1 – Winds of 30-60 km/h
    Bataan
    Pampanga
    Bulacan
    Nueva Ecija
    Northern Quezon
    Quirino
    Aurora
    Isabela
Cagayan, including Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands
    Batanes
    Metro Manila

PAGASA also said Lando is likely to exit the Philippines’ landmass in the afternoon or evening of Tuesday, October 20 - probably from Ilocos Norte or Cagayan.

The next update will be 5 am Philippines time ( 10 pm UK time ).

My wife is from isabela, there is flooding there.
My wife family home had two sections of the roof ripped off, could have been a lot worse, they were lucky..

My wife was showing me the pictures on her friends had put on facebook.... Her village must have just caught the tail end thankfully.

Thankfully " Lando " has weakened as it traverses the coastline of Ilocos Provinces.

As of 4 pm Philippines time it was 45 km West Southwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

Still moving very slowly ( forecast to move North Northeast at 5 kph ) - maximum sustained winds of over 100 kph near the centre with gusts of up to 135 kph.

Its a strange thing..Only the odd stiff breeze here inland but storm surge in Panglao coastal areas damaging boats left right and center.
