    Passport renewal

    hello everyone,

I just want to ask if you are going to apply for FLR how many months should left before your passport expires?
In my case my passport will expired this coming end of may 2016 and we are going to submit my FLR application this december so it means there's only 5months left before my passport expires. Do I need to renew my passport first before submitting the FLR application or is it ok if I only have 5 months left?

thanks to those who can answer my questions..

    cheers

... I think - but could, of course, be mistaken - UKVI legislation indicates at least 6 months' validity.

Five months ... hmm! Might be okay. There again ... just cannot help feeling that - if what I've said above is correct - you'd be BEST advised to renew your passport asap (while you've still got a bit of leeway before the December date) in order to "err on the safe side".

For the FLR(M) application the immigration rules do still specify a valid passport must be submitted.
The time frame you mention looks a little tight when following regular processes.

These days there is no actual visa stamped in the passport. Instead the applicant is issued with a BRP which contains all details. So personally I can't see any technical reason to have it valid, but those are the rules.

May I just ask these Questions:-
    1. When does her current visa expire ?
    2. Which name is in the passport, Maiden name or married name ?
    3. Does your wife current hold a BRP card ?

Have you considered a Premium Service ?

Renewing a Filipino passport will take between 12 - 18 weeks

hi Terpe thanks for the reply,
    with regards to your questions,

    1. her visa will expires on 27th of January next year
    2. she's still using her maiden name as we are not married yet
    3. she doesn't have a BRP card yet as she in fiancee visa at this moment.
    4. yes we are planning to go for Premium Service.

I have another concern can we submit her FLR as soon as we get the marriage certificate? or we need to wait until 28 days before her fiancee visa expires.
And what does Police registration certificates means? do we need both of these?

    cheers!

    Hello Travellor.

On a fiancée visa, the sooner you get married, the sooner you can apply for FLR. No need to wait for 28 days.

The police registration certificate won't be necessary if you are not asked to be registered to the police.

When are you getting married, if you don't mind me asking?

Timing may have conspired against but let's hope not.
I'd go for the Premium Service for FLR(M) then no worries about passport issues other than renewal.
The only other consideration will be BRP replacement after the passport with married name has been processed and returned.
You must replace the BRP within 3 months of getting the new passport. Not a major issue hopefully but another time based planning task.

Everything looking good. Well except for the health of your wallet

Advance best wishes for your wedding

Yes as Anne correctly advises, do get the FLR(M) visa settled asap following the wedding.
