Sadly, ... I had a telephone call from my daughter earlier this evening, informing me her Uncle Bob had passed away last night. At 83, he was the [much] older sibling of my late first wife and the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Ah ... thank you, Rosie; to be honest, though ... ... apart from the annual exchange of Christmas cards, I haven't really heard much in recent years from that branch of the family. Even back in Iris's lifetime they were inclined to keep themselves to themselves with only the occasional visit.
Condolences to you and your family from me too Arthur.
Y'know, Graham ... I'm genuinely touched by the number of folk here who've rallied round in supporting me, following the unexpected demise of someone whom - as I mentioned to Rosie - I've seldom seen or heard from in recent years, and my sincere thanks to you for your kind and thoughtful message of sympathy.
