Christmas is over for ANOTHER year ... now it's 'Boxing Day'. But WHY is it celebrated in the UK? Ireland, too, is in on the act.
Yes, it's a holiday ... giving [some of] us the chance to relax and unwind after indulging in the excesses of the previous 24 hours, whilst others might be out hunting for bargains - or, more notably (if they're members of the landed gentry) - participating in their local fox hunt ... or, there again, passing the afternoon at their local football grounds.
Whatever ... ... it has nothing to do with boxing (the sport) - which I mistakenly used to think it had, when I was a child.
