    Lemmy Kilmister, Motorhead

Well after years of rocking the man has gone to make his maker,
Not bad for someone who is 70 year of age and was still going strong until Cancer caught up with him,
he leaves a estimated wealth of £30 million ,
They are saying that he did not know about the cancer until the 26th December sad, but going very very quick may have been the best way, just myself thinking that

Very aggressive form of prostrate cancer apparently.

    R.I.P

Also, John Bradbury from the group "The Specials" died today.

RIP Lemmy... a true rock legend. I was lucky enough to see him play live with Hawkwind.

He lived life to the full and had his 3 score and 10.

Now he can ride his 'Silver Machine' in heaven.

I saw him several times too with Hawkwind, he was certainly a one off and the documentary about him earlier in the year was truly fascinating and showed a different side to him that I was unaware of, maybe they will repeat it now hes gone

Yes ... - it was a particularly aggressive form of cancer, right enough, Jamie - but seem to recall reading about it being in the brain. ...

    http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/mot...onths-to-live/ (see second paragraph)

    ... and his neck. !

It’s possible that the " tumors in brain and neck " diagnosed following a " brain scan " - as reported in the press release by his manager with Lemmy’s prior agreement - COULD have arisen in the prostate gland.

Cancer of this organ is one of the commonest in men worldwide. However, it would be uncommon for first diagnosis at an advanced stage with no symptoms apart from " not feeling well ", " looking gaunt ", with " speech a little odd ". It usually develops slowly, eventually with urinary symptoms ( which can also occur in the absence of cancer ). The cancer may eventually spread - both directly around the prostate and to lymph nodes, bones such as vertebrae in back and neck, and other organs such as lungs and brain.

If members wish to know more, there’s a thread on the topic ( http://filipinaroses.com/showthread....534#post542534 ).

( " Prostrate " means lying stretched out on the ground, completely overcome or helpless ).

RIP Ian " Lemmy " Kilmister.

's true, Alan ... the tumours could well have been metastasis - something which'd occurred to me afterwards - !

I only knew Lemmy from his "Ace of Spades" song, but knew fully well of who he was. He had that rock-n-roll "attitude" that few have. He didn't seem like the type that kept up on his preventative doctor appointments I wouldn't guess.
