Food for thought! Although the Archbishop's commentary appeared in print last September ... ... if anything it's becoming increasingly more relevant with the passage of time ... given that its just over four months now till the nation goes to the polls.

The Church could do much much more if it was:-

    a) United
    b) Willing to stand and be counted

Words are empty unless supported by actions

Seems 'the church' will not support Duterte because they say he's not a 'nice' person
Of course they will not say who is a 'nice' person unless it's someone they fully control.

Personally, I'm of the opinion it might be BETTER all round if the Church were to keep its "nose" out of 'Affairs of State' altogether, Peter. Correct me if I'm mistaken ... but I believe there's even
a ruling somewhere in the constitution that stipulates the two be kept separate.

Mind you ... ... that wasn't sufficient enough to deter the late unlamented (and, by all accounts, well~named) Cardinal Sin from his intervention. Thankfully, though, his successor has, so far, had the good sense to distance himself.
