Hmm ... seemingly applies to England only ... ... but it could - just as easily - apply elsewhere in the UK.

God forbid, though, that ANY part of the British Education System should ever revert back to an archaic arrangement designed for testing a child's [so-called] academic abilities at the tender age of eleven.

Besides, there are - always have been - kids who are "late developers".

Frankly, I really don't know what to say, as I've already expressed my views in an old thread of mine - under the forum's 'Loose Talk etc.' Section - [almost] exactly four years' ago:
