    When I was 16-20,if any one asked me why I was proud to be British I had many answers for them..All heartfelt..
    These days I`m finding it hard to give a heart felt positive and honest answer.
    These days I have Yanks that think its a joke asking me why every other woman in London wears a Burka etc..

    All those brave British men and women that died defending us all over the world in the last big war..
    F@..in makes me sad..

    How about 'obdurate' ... ... a stubborn refusal to acknowledge a fact or facts that, to everyone else, is/are patently obvious.

    Anyway back to the original topic for now.



    To be perfectly frank I feel very uneasy to say I'm proud to be British. Why? Because it's not a personal achievement! - it's just an identity which I don't have any control over. Don't get me wrong, I want the best for my country but I can't bring myself to say I'm proud of.....erm.....pot luck, so to speak. Perhaps I'm too individualistic?
