... still looking for that elusive word are we?
How about 'obdurate' ... ... a stubborn refusal to acknowledge a fact or facts that, to everyone else, is/are patently obvious.
Anyway back to the original topic for now.
To be perfectly frank I feel very uneasy to say I'm proud to be British. Why? Because it's not a personal achievement! - it's just an identity which I don't have any control over. Don't get me wrong, I want the best for my country but I can't bring myself to say I'm proud of.....erm.....pot luck, so to speak. Perhaps I'm too individualistic?

I think fred summed it up,the days of Proud To Be British are fading fast we are living in an age where some apologist left wingers want us to be scapegoats for the empire that was once Great Britain,i dont mince words so F*** them they are ruining our country.
Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.
