    My Story Today

My wife decided we will go to Divisoria today shopping for new curtains and other stuff needed for our guestv rooms.
Off we set with a 5 minute walk to the corner wher the FX/UV pass by.

Took us a good 10 minutes before we found one with good seating.
Half way to Cubao the driver decided he didn't want to drive in the rain anymore and told all the passenger to get out.
Naturally we had all paid our P20 fare.

Again we find another UV and pay yet another P10.

I had a feeling this was not a good omen.

The driver of the jeepney from Cubao to Divisoria looked about 100 years old and progressed only very slowly. Took an hour or more.

    Still raining.
Looking at curtains and other 'soft' furnishings. Not my favourite way to spend a day, but hey ho think positive.

My wife managed to buy all she wanted and more at a total cost of less than P1500
I paid for lunch at P300

Still raining so decide to come home.

The Jeepney to Cubao was full to squeezing but there were some nice benefits .........foe me..... Hehehe

Half way to Cubao the driver stopped and said he'd go no further due to rain and traffic. By this time it was rush hour.
I gave him a mouthful. My wife translated. I will not leave this jeepney unless he refunds me in full or finds me a jeepney and pays the fare excess.

His conductor did the right thing and we managed to squeeze into another jeepney. At least no fare to pay,
Getting from Cubao to Marikina on a UV wasn't easy but we managed.

    Still raining.

He's my day's end mistake...... I questioned the logic and the sense and in giving our Montero SUV to the bro-in-law
    Whoops

My first year in Philippines was spent in Davao City.
I'd not experienced a proper 'rainy season'

In fact last year was an El Nino year with drought and high heat.

Here in the NCR it's been an extreme year for rain. Basically it will rain everyday. Should be somewhat predicatable with afternoon rains.
This year is been heavy rain at any time of day or night and mostly all day every day with just sort breaks.

On the positive side I now know where all the leaks in the house are and am able to fix them properly

The Marikina River is close to major overfow and flooding.

Much to my wife's annoyance I still wander around in the rain. Surf shorts , singlet-type T-shirt and Crocs. Wonderful.
Well until I catch cold my wifey reckons

It's a myth that everywhere in the Philippines has a rainy season. Southern cities in Mindanao such as Davao and General Santos have an even quota of rain throughout the year usually and even then it's not much. Manila for instance has four times more rain in its wettest month than these two have in their wettest month. Baguio has seven times more but that's because it's located in the mountains.

Cities in the Central Visayas such as Cebu & Dumaguete have less rain than their Luzon counterparts too but more than Davao and Gen San. The latter by the way is the driest city in the country.

Last year we had a real issue with water one way and another.
Together with daily power outages we also had pretty lengthy water interruptions.

One of the major the problems with NCR is that of water drainage. So much getting spent of cleaning out the drains but still people will stuff rubbish down, including concrete waste
Quezon City is waist deep with flood in many parts.
