Lightbulb Communist Party Of The Philippines Declares 7-Days' Ceasefire Ahead Of Talks

It has emerged that the CPP - the "Reds" as they're known in the Philippines - in collaboration with the New People's Army (NPA) have declared a 7-day unilateral ceasefire to take effect from a minute after midnight this Sunday ... until a minute before the same time one week hence.

Meanwhile, formal negotiations will be held between the National Democratic Front (NDF) - the CPP's political arm - and the Philippines' Government, from August 22 to 26, in Oslo.

It is certainly to be hoped those measures will be positive steps towards some sort of peaceful settlement after an President Duterte abandoned an earlier ceasefire following the killing of a government militiaman in Davao del Norte.

If the ceasefire is successful, better days could be on the horizon as the conflict has gone on too long now, fingers crossed!

Exactly Peter, and there will always be the need for someone to 'bump off' the local rapist who dodges justice.
