    Who lives where?

Now I know that we are a right mixed bunch and we are all over the world too, but where do you call home and are you happy where ever that is.
At the moment home for me and my wife call home England, are we happy here, well Emma is and I am most of the time.
Work is here and that's what keeps us here really.
We both work and we make and save good money and knowing that we could not make this in the Philippines so for now this is very important.
I am use to living here as I have never lived anywhere else at all and Emma has got use to bring here too, in fact she does not want to leave just yet, she loves our weather here and has made a few new friends.
One day we may call another place in the world our home but for now England is very good for us.

Home is where my heart is, a beautiful place in the Philippines where my wife and children are. It will always be my home now even if right now I am back in the UK. It's not forever, just for now until I can get back.

Still vacant behind, we did think about buying it, but they wanted double the real market value, probably because of me. But we are adding another two rooms to the new house as the children will need more room as they get older.
Still a couple more lots at the end of the track at the side of us if you are interested.

My hometown is York, but I now live in a village between York and Leeds.

In the Philippines we live in a small hamlet of houses, mostly owned by relatives, about 10 miles north of Dagupan, Pangasinan... and about 5 miles from the nearest beach.

    We enjoy the simple life...

... quite a contrast ... your mother-in-law with her laptop and satellite dish, in comparison to her [otherwise] simple lifestyle!

From reading between the lines Steve I reckon you are living in the right place now...You seem happy enough!!
Spend some of that money on more and longer holiday trips abroad perhaps... At the end of the day,you can always go home!

As we get older we need to think not only where we would like to live, but where we can get any support that is needed too.
I loved the short time I spent in the Philippines, and have been other places too, but with medical and mobility problems I know I am best off staying here on the Isle of Wight, which is a good safe community, plus as I live alone and might need more support.
I dough I will renew my passport when it expires, along with my driving licence.

Funny you should say that Fred,
We have been thinking of France and Spain or even America for a longer stay just to sample other places before our move to somewhere more permanent

I never really fancied Spain so much. Even though my brother lived there and we had some great times.
On the other hand I'd always felt France would be much better for me. I'd imagined living in the Alsace region where I had (have) many friends. From my frame-of-reference I really can't see any disadvantage.

However the results of the UK Brexit will be the final defining outcome...... lets see.

As I'm constantly saying, Japan would have been my number one retirement country of choice and also of my wife. Sadly that just isn't possible and unlikely ever to be so. Probably one our our greatest misgivings was not maintaining our resident status.

Well we ended up here in the Philippines. Not by chance but more by designs. Life circumstances for us both directed us here. We both fully agreed to give it a 5 year window before any consideration of change. So far it's easily one of the best choices we made.
We've been living in the Philippines almost 2 years and it doesn't seem possible that the time has flown past so quickly.

To be honest I can't ever see me relocating back to UK.

We are all different, with very different frames-of-reference and very different ideas on how life should be in retirement.
My objective is happiness and peace of mind. So far I've been able to achieve that here, but who know what the future holds ?
