Smile My IOM - Tuberculosis test experience

    Hi Everyone!

I want to share my experience when I had my TB test at IOM Makati.

Booking: I emailed them but got no reply, so, I had called their Globe mobile number, it was ringing but it will divert your call into a busy tone, so I texted them and told them I’ve been calling but my calls are diverted and I asked how to book an appointment; their reply:

IOM: This line is only accepting messages at the moment. Please text your concern. Thank you.

(So I texted them my preferred date and got this reply..)

IOM: Greetings! Confirming receipt of your text.

To schedule for medical, pls fill this out (If w/ more than 1 patient, pls send separately):

    Can/UK:
    Last Name:
    First Name:
    Birthday:
    Gender:
    Contact No.:
    Address:
    Passport No.:
    Preferred Appointment Date:
Address in UK (if for UK)
    1st time w/ IOM?
Is there family member w/ previous medical w/ IOM?

I will text you back if date is available. Please wait for my confirmation. Thank you.

(Then they texted me some additional info which are helpful)

    For UK:

    Greetings!

Your appointment is confirmed and you are scheduled on _____@ 8-11am/1:30-2pm

    Requirements:

Passport (original and valid) plus photocopy of passport
1 government issued ID (If student: student ID

If student and below 14 years old: student ID + photocopy NSO birth cert)

    Fees:

3200 (11 yrs old and above), 500 (10 yrs below)

Pls be informed that we only accept cash.

*(they are not strict with time because they didn’t ask me for a specific time, so I arrived at 1:00pm and there were only a few applicants)

And as per building's policy, please avoid wearing sandals, sando, sleeveless and shorts because you will not be able to enter the building premises.

*(Please take note of this, as I have seen some applicants which was stopped by the guard)

    3. Please be reminded that depending on your assessment, you may be required to undergo further examinations for 3 consecutive days. Thanks.

*(Got mine on the same day)

Going there: Since I am also from Makati City, it wasn’t so hard for me to go in this place.
For someone who needs directions; If you are at EDSA, you need to go to Buendia then go to Makati Ave in there you will see Petron Gas station on the Left you will see Pacific Star Building (this is the one with lots of flags outside) you need to turn left and after 2 blocks you will see H.V. De la Costa St. after a few meters Trafalgar Plaza is in there on the right side. Google map is your best friend

Inside the Building: You need one valid ID that you need to give to the receptionist in exchange of a building ID. Then theres a queue for the elevators, don’t worry coz going up won’t take long, it is going down that will take you about 10-20mins of waiting.
    IOM is at 15th Flr.

at IOM: another log in their guard, then he will give you a number, you need to specify that you are for UK coz they are also catering Canada.

Then, at 1:30pm the receptionist will call your number, she will get your details, passport number, Philippine and UK address, contact number, husband’s name, and so on… She will also take a picture of you which will be attached at the certificate

after the encoding of details is you will see a Doctor, he will ask you a few questions like
if you had a cough, history of TB in family or exposure to it, etc

then Xray, the tech just took one X-ray test and asked me go back to receptionist ..

then they will ask you to wait for the result, it took more than an hour for the result

they gave me the result at 3:35pm.

*For places to eat, there are a lot of restaurants and fast food nearby just walk a bit to Makati Ave.
*As much as possible, avoid being there after 5pm because the traffic is pretty bad and if you will use public transpo it will be a lil bit difficult as this place is a business district.

... would the OP - or someone - clarify what the initials 'IOM' represent in this context? Because they're a commonly~used abbreviation for ... ... Isle of Man, in my experience.

IOM stands for International Organisation for Migration Health Centre.
