MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte hosted dinner for the country’s top businessmen to clear “wrong perceptions” and lay out his plans to grow the economy and defeat illegal drug rings, one of his aides said Wednesday.
The three-hour-long dinner at the presidential palace on Tuesday was the first such meeting since Duterte assumed office in June last year and took stewardship of the economy that is among the fastest-growing in the world.

MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte discussed his fight against “endo” or illegal labor contractualization with some of the country’s biggest businessmen over dinner in Malacanang, officials said Wednesday.

Companies and the labor sector are working at a “win-win solution” to stop “endo,” or the practice of firing employees before their sixth month on the job to avoid paying additional benefits, officials said.
The dinner guests included Hans Sy, a board member of mall operator SM Prime Holdings, which was inspected by the government last year for compliance with labor laws.

This is great news for Filipino employees..
Seen some really excellent staff in outlets like National book store that everyone knows will be fired before their first 6 months..
Hopefully this is the begging of the end for this practice.
