We have all of the saying being in the right place at the right time.
Today just after 8am at work the down stairs bell rang and as there was only me at work it was i who answered the door.
There is front of me was this chap and he was handing in his CV, after a quick chat i said we shall keep it on file and may be in touch.
Move forward by 3 hours.
A driver who is on holiday today came in and handed in his weeks notice, it was not a surprise but we cannot afford to loose drivers like this and having 2 drivers with long term sickness.
The chap who dropped his CV in early on well he was called and just after 2pm i was interviewing him.
He has no experience at driving a HGV at all, he paid for his license and CPC himself and is wanting a change in his life, but no one will give him a chance.
He is on good money where he is but is willing to drop a wage to get the experience he is looking for , well he starts in 2 weeks time, i did not give in any crap , i told him its hard work and if we think he is not right we shall have to part just like if he feels the same.
He is 37 married with 2 children and he has a mortgage and lives local or has h says he can use his bike for work.
It is good giving someone a chance who is willing to work , lets hope he cuts it.
