34 years in the same job

Having only had two jobs in my working life and the job I am in I have been doing this for 34 years,
I will not make it till the official day of my retirement which would have added another 8 years.
Before this job I use to work on a farm and then I did have a very short spell as a government artist but that only lasted for 6 month's.
I count myself lucky having just a few jobs, and I would hate to be starting out in life now.
But if I had too I wonder what trade I would chose.

Before I moved up here, I'd only had 3 jobs. One was for 15 years with a break after 7 years for a year whilst I tried something different. My last job was for 12 years.
If I'm still in this job I'm in now this time next year I will be amazed!

If it pays the bills and you have some left at the end of the week or month well you are doing well.
Thats one of the problems with my job the money is very good and there is nothing out there that would pay the same for what i would be doing.

Problem is, it just pays the bills. And I mean just. I have nothing left at the end of the month.

Anything awe want to buy aside from food shopping and bills comes from our savings. Those savings won't last forever, I'm only 42!

I am lucky Michael, but i have always been happy with the wage I am on,it's not having to much debt that helps.
I am sure there are folks who are on loads more then me and i hope they are happy too.

    26 years for me now

Started off as a van driver, it was meant to be a stop gap job until I found something better as I refused to sign on.

Fast forward 20 plus years and I ended up owning the company

I'll always count myself very very lucky to have remained in the same basic job for over 30 years.
I received a very good salary for participating in a hobby of mine, travelling around the planet and living in some exciting places. May not have enjoyed the excitement of a few of those places but still enjoyed the experiences.

The longer in the job the easier it became to quit as I spent more time on strategy development meetings and less time doing what motivated me the most.
