Income based speeding fines coming your way

From Monday 24th April new speeding fines are being introduced and its based on your income.
So if you are living on the dole and its your own choice too and you are a car driver dont worry we will be paying your fine , but all you rich folk beware.

Well its a dam sight fairer that someone who earns 18K per annum pays a speeding fine of £250, and someone who earns 100k per year should pay 5 times that then its relative to earnings, tell you what if you dont want to pay the higher amount, then find a job as a production worker .

If its the same offence it should be the same fine no matter who you are and what you earn,

No, it penalises low earners far more than millionaires.

This is like % wage increases, i remember years ago i think it was Labour who said everyone had to have a £5 a week wage increase, at that time it was the biggest wage rise i had ever had.

I dont agree Harry the fine is for the offence that the driver committed no matter who the driver was.
What is going to be interesting is someone not working and claiming benefits , so they are going to take the fine from his benefits and then maybe his children will go without something.

Why stop there, maybe you should give the so called rich more points as well. Then they can lose their licence quicker and therefore stop paying so much tax

So with you on a fixed income of a pension but maybe with lots of savings do you think they may start to look into your bank accounts next, so you can pay more.

Tax the rich to feed the poor.
But why o why do the workers of this country seem to pay for everything it seems.
Best bet is to keep to the speed limit, or use your feet and if you have to well public services.

I bet everyone on here has done more then the speed limit sometime in there life and i dont mean by 1 or 2 mph either,
I must admit i break it everyday , a 30 mph zone maybe 35 mph , 40 mph zone 44mph and so on.
I am going to keep to the speed limit from now on though , but when are you going to find out you was speeding , by letter a month later with a picture of your car you as the driver and the speed you was doing, all by remote camera too.
I wonder is that why all these new gantries are going up on the motorways, instant cash.

Seems to me the higher earners are against, and the lower earners are for it, we all want whats best for us, as for first class, and business class, they have always been well out of my price range..

I am not a high earner at all but i work very hard and long hours to make me earn more money , so if that means i am a high earner.
As a new law that is coming in i am sure there will still be the young who will be finned more but remember some young folk can be earning a lot of cash these days .
It will be interesting watching this over the coming months to see if there is a increase in future fines .

It was you who mentioned doing the same to airfares, hence me saying about business and first class.

Tell you what, let's go with your idea about fining those who can afford it more. In the same principal if you commit a crime that puts you in prison, should the higher tax payer get a nicer cell and a decent menu to choose from

    Band A covers speed from 31- 40 in a 30mph speed limit and 71- 90 in a 70mph zone,
So what happens if your speedo was out and you thought you was doing 30, but they caught you doing 32,try proving your innocence .
