I just did their little tongue in cheek quiz at the bottom of the page, titled Are You Elite,i am almost there,i will be elite if I eat more canapes
I did have a lunch today with a friend in Windsor, whats more working class than a salad and mineral water within a few hundred yards of the castle

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

Nowadays he lives in a Council house in the roughest part of the Town, and hasnt worked for the last 10 years when he was a Window Cleaner, nothing wrong with being a Window Cleaner Iv done a bit of that myself in my time, basically there isnt any lower for him to go.
Me i was born to a single parent family when to be a bar steward was frowned upon we didnt have any electricity, but we had a Brewhouse across the yard where we had a Boiler with a fire underneath which we used on Washing Day usually a monday and the obligatory outside toilet, the street lights were Gas lights, and our street was cobbled, many a time when we didnt have any money i raided the dustbins of a local shop, to find any dented Tins of food which they had thrown out, or walked the nearby Railway line to find coal from the Trains so that we could have a fire. That to me then was the haves and have nots.

Nowadays i dont own a property that went when i got divorced she had a cut from the property, i got the remaining Mortgage to pay off having given her most of my savings (her share) rather than sell the house, eventually a partner (not live in) of mine paid of the Mortgage with the proviso that if we eventually sold the house we would split any profits.. it was sold when i went to the Philippines early last year im still waiting for my share this brings me to where i am now living in a rented apartment, and about to become officially retired later this month.
Now make up your own minds about what class is, i know for sure i was born to the lowest having had no food on the table at times, at other times barely had clothes on my back, i know my old school friend was far better off than me, and always liked the best things in life, but one things for sure no matter what class we are, we all piss in a similar pot..
Sometimes things are beyond our control, life is decided by decisions that we make, sometimes its dictated to by the timing of things. Should i have stayed in an unhappy, and dangerous marriage for the sake of having a comfortable life with our own house, despite the fact that i was the only earner and the 4 of us smoked ? No i just wished i had done it years earlier, which is what i meant by timings.
I think Class nowadays is probably best described as what income Bracket we are in, but there are still people born to money who speak properly, write correctly who have come down for whatever reason, and there are people like Steve, and me who have our own class and dont give a Toss what other people think, except our nearest and dearest, and really thats all that matters in Life.. amen.
    Well said Harry.

Posh Pawn i do enjoy watching the show, but talk about facelifts and Botox and more money than sense too. But it just shows you that the rich are sometimes short of cash too.

Lot of rich people live in the area, I see Ian Towning the jewellery expert from the show often, nice area to live but behind the big gates of some of the houses who knows what happens? Oh yeah, I used to see Max Clifford nearly every morning............But he hasn't been around for a while.

I seem to have worked my way down to working class (retired).

My parents and siblings I'd describe as middle class. All went to grammar/boarding school, (including myself), and most have degrees. All own their own homes. All have a good standard of living and good jobs.... except me.

People tell me that I talk 'posh' Yorkshire, but I'm pretty much potless, and live in a council bungalow. Sometimes vote Labour, sometimes Conservative.

The original Black Sheep, I'd say.

Tbh, ... I used to consider myself *lower middle class, due to my being reasonably~well educated and having always been a so-called "white collar" worker. Now, I'm not as sure as I once was, in *that respect.

I can relate to a number of things mentioned on this post, nice memories for me

I am sure there are still lots of people in some sort of marriage or just living together, just for the sake of not being alone.
May not be dangerous but name calling and taking all your money of you to live the lives that the other person may want and not wanting what you are wanting, but hey they dont have to stop there , but maybe to old or set in there ways to realize it.
We all live and learn, well most of us do anyway.

A good friend of mine came from a mining family in South Wales, is he working class

He now employs 100's of people and just picked up his new Rolls Royce Ghost yesterday, is he upper class now

No, he's my mate who I have a drink with down the local pub, he's treated the same as anyone else down the pub. Class is how other people see you, I treat everyone equally irrelevant of what car you have or the size of your bank balance

    That's it,
It's how other people see you, but inside we are just the same.
