    Getting my stepson

Hi I am new here can someone give me advice and help please.

My wife's son still lives in the Philippines and we want to bring him over to live with us, I got sick last year which caused me to quit my job. At the time I was on a good income to support bringing him over but unfortunately timing was bad and I got sick. I am back to work now but I don't think I meet the financial criteria. Could anyone give me advice please.

    Key Points:

    1. What is the financial criteria now?

    2. My wife's son still has his bio-logical fathers last name.

    3. My wife still is not a British citizen yet

    4. Is there any way I can bring him over and be a family?

The son is 13 years old and they have been annulled for 5 years, the dad just didn't want to know his son at all and I have taken care of him since he was 5 years old.

Minimum income threshold required to sponsor a foreign fiancee or spouse with no children is £18,600 per annum. If the sponsor is applying for their partner’s dependent child(ren) under the age of 18 to settle in the UK, there is an additional threshold requirement of £3,800 for one child and £2,400 for each additional child included in a UK settlement visa application.

Your wife needs to prove sole responsibility for her child.

What visa does your wife have?

it appears some visa applications concerning children and those that do not meet the minimum income requirement have been put on hold while the government decides what to do about the Supreme Court deciding that some of the rules and policies were unlawful in protecting children.

have a look here https://www.freemovement.org.uk/supr...reign-spouses/ and keep an eye out for what the government response is.
