Can I have a part time work with fiancee visa?

    Hi again,

I tried to search from this site if I can find a similar enquiry regarding my present "problem" but I wasn't able to find one or maybe I just don't know how to use the search function

    Please enlighten me with this:

I came to UK November last year with fiancee visa, I am aware that I am not allowed to work until I am not married with my fiance and let my visa changed. My wedding will take place on March this year. I am offered a part time job of at least 3 days a week and I want to take it but I am afraid of the consequences. On the other hand, I really wanted to make myself busy and not just to stay at home waiting for my fiance to arrive from work.

What can I do? Is it not really possible to do a part time job with fiancee visa?

I'm sorry girls but you cannot work on your fiancee visa as it's against the law! it's been clearly stated in the guidelines before you applied your visa. There is NO employer who will employ workers who do not have working Visa/spouse visa as they will be fined £2,000 by the Home Office if they found out.

You need to wait untill you get married and apply for FLR(m). And once you have it you are free to work anywhere in Uk.

A good post Sir, many people who carefully budget and plan all these lovely weekends forget most ladies will be stuck in a strange country on her own even if your friends and family help out its still tough.

I can still remeber my wifes first day on her own in the house, first trip to the local shop and high street on her own. Luckily my wife came as a spouse and could work as soon as she was ready and could find work.

for a few quid its not worth it as you can get deported for working with no work permit.

i had to do my "time" as well and it drove me nuts! thing is though it is not forever. consider this as one of the sacrifices you have to make for a better future, e.g. staying in the uk.

Opening a bank account for Jet came only second to having her registered with my Doctor.

I also spare some of my time browsing the net and reading books on british history.
    Thanks guys for your time.

hi there you cant really work even a part-time job its very risky coz if they find out that your not allowed to work yet you will be in trouble which im sure you dont want that to happen since your still getting married soon.i know how it feels waiting for your husband to come home from work everyday and doing nothing at home coz i had that same experience which was really hard and boring but thats how it is.i did a part-time job in a charity shop in the town center for only once a week which is not too bad but its a volunteer job and u dont get paid but u learn whats it like working in a shop here in this place and i did it for about nearly 3 months.i really advice you just to wait till u get married and just sacrifice for a few months and u will be ok.it would be good if u have a filipino friend there so u can meet up have time together and visit each other from time to time.hope u wont attempt to get that job and just be patient!

It's difficult to be left at home specially when you were used to work way back in the Philippines but you need to wait as most of the guys told you in here, it is for your own good.

I agree with melmart, you could go on a voluntary job and it is useful for your future reference too. It is good to mingle with other people and you will get used to different accents or you could go to an adult education Welcome English class, I know we are already coversant in English Language but it helps you to be aquinted to other people, you will experience also to ride in a bus on your own and also it helps you to climatise yourself.

With voluntary jobs does any one know the actual rules on if a finacee visa holder can work in one. As when my wife worked in a local charity shop she was asked to bring passport and proof of id. Im not sure if that was just for security reasons (due to the cash in the till and stock and safety of other workers) or if thwey were required to by law.

If a voluntary job is allowed it is a good way to get used to UK working life and my wife found although she didn't get paid she got a discount on items in the shop and first look in which i think only fair. She also met her first phill friend in the UK though working there. She also got basic till training and retail experience which 2 years and 3 months meant she could get a part time job where she is getting 750 pounds bonus for her monthly bonsus in jan which will pay for her trip back to Phill

    hi Vrn,

I understand how are u feeling right now..As I also came here in the UK on a fiancee visa and will get married on March but in a way I am glad that my fiance only works at home and he do take me around to different places here and I have opened my bank account here..

I keep myself busy in a way, I do household chores, talking to my family in the Phils. in the morning, logging in here in the forum, reading some magazines and newspaper, watching the news in the telly to help me become oriented on what's happening around our place, and around this country..

I will try to ask my fiance if there are some nearest charity institution here wherein I can do volunteer jobs..I havent met any filipino here yet, but I know in time I will meet some..

Goodluck to us Vrn, we just need to be patient and I know in time we can work here and we can help our fiance..

Maybe you could buy and sell stuff on E-bay?? Your hubby will be home one day and his stuff will all be sold!

Hi! everyone's right. you are gambling for your future here if you work. If you have been working In Phil for a long time before you came here, then this is the longest holiday you have. take time to enjoy things that you can't do while you were working in Phil. Enjoy being the lady of leisure!
