My (son's) application it turns out had been 'left on a shelf' for a a whole year.
New form now completed and sent off to Liverpool... with a fresh set of pictures. Of course they'd had my 110 quid fee for a year also... as well as all our important documents.
False sense of security given by others saying online that their kids' passports had taken up to a year, plus the Passport Office 'tracking service' constantly reporting that the application was 'being processed'.
My fault for not checking up sooner. Theirs for being a set of useless *****.
I dare not complain until the passport is in my hand.
