Over half a million awarded to Pinay domestic worker

She rarely had enough sleep due to being on call 24 hours and rarely was given a day off. Paid the equivalent of a measly £1.40 per hour.

    Awarded $827k (approx £580k).

    Good.

It makes me angry reading about all these ****holes who regard Filipinos as dumb slaves, to be used and abused.

Don't hate the players, hate the game. The PI has long been regarded as a source of lowly paid cheap labour.

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

Sadly, that has been the case for far too long, hitherto ... but, hopefully - with enough publicity given to stories highlighting the happy outcome for the lady named in Jamie's link - shoddy treatment/abuse of Filipino overseas domestic workers will, eventually, become a thing of the past.

If you had a job and wasn't being properly paid and you needed the money for an aviation caper or a plane ticket to Uzbekistan for example I'd bet you'd be the first to holler.

Think you need to stop hanging around Thai swimming pools with Iain Duncan-Smith.

My guess is you're now going to change the subject and tell us a story about....um....Uzbekistan.

    Another Pinay that was mistreated.

Had boiling water poured over her. No prizes for guessing which part of the world this happened in.

Nope, no Uzbekistan tale, just saying the PI has always been known as a source of cheap labour alongside Bangladesh, Pakistan etc., in places like the Middle East, and I would certainly never holler about my personal situation,I had a terrible start to life,it was what it was.

Just been for dinner with an ex-pat living in Thailand who has made a lot of cash working in the UAE. He told me lots of Filipinas marry Arab men. One guy he knows has 4 wives, 3 of them are Filipinas. They have I think 15 kids between them.

Well, a lot of Muslim Filipinas do work there of course. No doubt they are accustomed to living in the stone age.

No doubt some of them will be regretting it.
