FWIW, as a frequent traveller whose ex used to work for Boeing (many stories), I only ever sit in aisle seats and try to avoid this part of the plane just by the wing - forward or rearward is best. Analysis has shown the best survival rate is for those in aisle seats within 6 rows of an exit. Personally I try and sit within 1 or 2 rows of an exit (assuming I can't get the exit). This may mean noisy kids in bulkhead areas but its not a major issue.
