    Temperature Change

Seems to me the mercury has risen and the wind dropped a bit during the past 24 hours here in central Scotland.

Still damp 'n' miserable, though - leaving me wondering ... ... what conditions are like elsewhere
    in UK.

Feeling a bit chilly and miserable here in central England.

This is the seventh anniversary of Typhoon Yolanda which devastated whole areas of the Philippines, particularly Tacloban, so I guess we should not complain too much.

More than twenty-five years since I was last stuck in the UK for winter, just hope they get the pubs open soon.

    That's a rather excellent word.

    Is it Germanic?

Spot on ... its origins are, indeed, Germanic.

however, the expression came top of a poll conducted by the Scottish Book Trust which judged it as being a uniquely appropriate adjective for describing the native Scots weather, i.e, bleak 'n' dreary.
