    Small tip for next winter.

I used to watch in amazement whilst drinking hot coffee, my neighbours scraping ice and snow from their car windshields with credit cards etc at 6AM.. F@K that!!
Sometimes they only scrape a foot square area from front and back windows and off they go!!!
Me?? After my 15 min Coffee, smoke and slice of toast break..
One watering can full of hot water poured over the whole car, de iced it in 20 seconds.
Never a cracked wind screen or window like the old myth`s and wives tales portrayed!!

I have not witnessed nor experienced such nasty or such horrendously freezing conditions for about 14 years.. For that reason alone, I thought it only right that I share this old trick to the members scraping frozen ice away there in the U.K!!
Don't ever scrape a frozen windscreen or car window ever again..
    Thanks Fred!!!
    Your welcome.

Excuse the pun, but doesn't it boil down to how hot the water is?

Us truckers always used cold water cos hot water freezes more quickly
Also when the diesel was frozen we used to build a little fire under the fuel tank, but that was during the 60's

Fred - I also put hot (not boiling ) water on my car windows and have been doing it for years with no cracked screens as a result. Always amazes me the number of people you see scraping away at their cars in the mornings. Being retired, i always thought i wouldn't have to get up but now I drive my wife into work and pick her up (even though she passed a UK driving test, she would rather i drive).

    Hi Lordna!!
I used to fill up my watering can from the hot tap and do the whole car..
I did have my windscreen wipers on though as without them I could see the thin ice forming just after pouring it on.
So glad those days are over although I do miss the cold snaps here from time to time ha ha!!
