    Postal service to the Philippines.

Four and a half weeks since I posted my Valentines card, it has still not arrived in Leyte.

The Royal Mail website claims 6-7 working days for International Standard delivery, that's airmail, I even put a little blue "Par Avion" sticker next to the stamp.

Oh well, it might get there early, only another 50 weeks to go.

Don't expect it to arrive at all. You should've just bought a card online that doesn't go thru customs (from the online shops where you buy gifts for the Philippines).

We sent 2 small packages of coffee for my parents in the past thru Royal Mail. One arrived after 3 months and the other went missing. We sent it via air cargo and supposed to arrive in 3 to 5 days. After probably 14 months, the other box turned up and my mum had to pick it up from the post office. It arrived from UK to Philippines after 3 days from the day we sent it. It was stuck in the Philippine customs all those times. Do not trust Philippine customs in anything, whether letters or packages.

I sent a small package to Valencia via Post office 30th December air mail, the receipt and paperwork states up to 7 weeks delay because of covid restrictions and if not delivered by 25 days I can claim value of contents and postage so I put in my claim. Hopefully it still could arrive ok

years ago the misses sent me a letter that contained an important document, I waited and waited for it, months later she got the letter back , the royal mail returned it 'address unknown', because she got the house number wrong, she missed a digit off it, but my surname ( only a few people in the UK have the same surname) and the post code was correct

Dave you should have put your card in a small box with some chocolates and used a website like ParcelHero, they use the major couriers at a discount and she would have got her card and chocs in about a week or so

    ShippingCart is another handy 'facility'.

I used them earlier this year.

I bought some (Xbox) computer games from UK ebay. They are stupidly expensive here in the Philippines, but cost next to nothing secondhand in England.

These are sent to your 'locker' at the ShippingCart place in the UK. You can have items sent from other online shopping places (Amazon, etc ?) also, using the address given.

They will keep adding items for you, until you want them shipped (either by air or sea)...to your door... in my case, in the Philippines.

Worked fine for me, and cost about £25 for the (air cargo) shipping.

Well, appears my passport was delivered to the Passport Office today, via Fedex.

Still took about a week by air, at p3500 (50 quid) !

Fingers crossed again for getting the new one delivered back here without too much hassle.

'Snail Mail' is truly the correct expression now.
